‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ in Nottinghamshire

June 21st, 2010 at 03:06

The  July issue of ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’, the magazine for genealogists which relates to the television series with the same name, has a Nottinghamshire focus.  The  regular ‘Around Britain’ feature  looks this month at  records relating to Nottinghamshire ancestors and there are details of various Nottinghamshire repositories including Manuscripts and Special Collections and Nottinghamshire Archives.  The accompanying CD provides images of material at the archives, here at the University and at the Sherwood Foresters archive, and includes lists of baptisms at St Mary’s provided by the Nottinghamshire Family History Society.

We were contacted by the writer on a very busy day in May and had just a few hours to provide information and the following day to supply images.  With more time, we could have provided more detail and more variety but it is good to see that we feature prominently in the article with references to the Archdeaconry Collection, family and estate collections and business and trade union records.  It remains to be seen whether we receive an increase in family history enquiries as a result!
