Community Day

April 26th, 2010 at 10:04

Our section’s participation in the University’s Community Day seemed to present an ideal opportunity for me to try to post my first ever blog!

It was a really successful day for us, so well done to all who contributed, especially Caroline as organiser, who looked great, and was an added attraction, in medieval costume.

The swords, tabards and shields were a really big hit, as were Richard’s wonderful calligraphy sessions.

The highlight for me, though, was the 13 year old NUSA student who spent ages looking at the old maps of Nottingham and tried so hard to answer the (sometimes very challenging!!) questions.  Sadly, she wasn’t our competition winner, but she was certainly proud of the new ‘map reading skills’ she had developed and I feel that it was responses and reactions such as this that made the day well worthwhile for us!
