File:Sporting Whip cover.jpgUoN libraries are running a trial of the Gale Cengage database 19 Century US Newspapers.  The database

  • contains approximately 1.7 million pages (over 28 million articles) of primary source newspaper content
  • features full-text content and images
  • encompasses the entire 19th century

From the publisher:  “Every aspect of society and every region of the nation is found in the archive – rural and urban, large cities and small town, coast to coast and beyond. Major newspapers stand alongside those published by African Americans, Native Americans, women’s rights groups, labor groups, the Confederacy, and other select groups. “

The trial ends 17 November.    Access is password controlled.  Contact for login information.
