The Qur’an of Kansuh al-Ghuri

January 29th, 2011 at 11:01

The Qur’an of Kansuh al-Ghuri at the University Manchester’s John Rylands Library has now been digitised.

The ornate book is 88 x 60 x 18 cm and its 944 images have been taken, edited and processed into 120mb Tiff files. From there they have also been converted into PNG files that Turning the Pages requires to create the virtual book. There are further 2 leaves held in the Chester Beatty Library which will be digitised and added in the right order before publishing.

You can read more on the project blog.
