Trial: Encyclopedia of the Bible and its Reception (EBR) Online + Theologische Realenzyklopädie (TRE) Online

November 10th, 2010 at 08:11

A new 30-day trial for the database Encyclopedia of the Bible and its Reception (EBR) Online + Theologische Realenzyklopädie (TRE) Online is now running.    Please note that this trial is available on campus only.

An innovative and groundbreaking database, the Encyclopedia of the Bible and its Reception documents “not only the origins and development but also the vast influence and broad reception of the Jewish and Christian Bibles, including all their figures, themes, and motifs.”

The conceptual framework “gives equal footing to the various important disciplines studying the history of the Bible’s reception. Thus, without privileging any interpretive tradition, EBR examines the histories and theologies of Judaism and Christianity, alongside reception processes in Islam and other religions and religious movements.”

Content includes literature, art, music, and film.  The creators of the encyclopedia deliberately sought “to include all creative developments, movements, and culture-forming influences of the past and present that can be traced back to the Bible.”

The URL for the trial is : http://refworks.reference-global.com/Xaver/start.xav?col=Coll_EBR-TRE    In order for it to work, please make sure that you have activated cookies and JavaScript in your browser.

The trial will end 9 December 2010.
