The future of group learning in Pharmacy?

February 25th, 2011 at 09:02

PharmacyA joint initiative between the School of Pharmacy, our team here in the Learning Technology Section, and the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Pharmacy forum (NDPF) has been set up to trial interactive webcast lectures. The forum is a local practice forum which also functions as a learning group and community of practice. The initiative was reported in the PJ earlier this month (subscription only: access online via University login).

Matthew Boyd, Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice and NDPF IT lead, comments: “Since the local practice forum covers a huge area, some people might never [physically] come to a meeting. We had online participants from as far as Sheffield and north east Derbyshire. Our next step is to arrange to webcast to simultaneous meetings in other locations to preserve face-to-face interaction.”

As the Journal concludes: this, it seems, is the future of pharmacy learning and networking.
