February 4th, 2011 at 10:02

This month’s (Feb 2011) e-learning community presentations discussed Mobile Learning. Links to the presentations below:

Mike Sharples (LSRI) on Mobile Learning in Higher Education: What Works, What Next?
Students are arriving at university with a range of personal devices including smartphones, netbooks, laptops and tablets. I shall briefly survey what we know from previous projects on student learning with mobile devices, then discuss new approaches to supporting the ‘mobile student’ in personal organisation, inquiry-based learning and reflection in the field.

Dave Clark (IS) will discuss the pilot implementation of campusM at the University of Nottingham. CampusM is a unique, integrated mobile application that combines university services in one convenient place on your mobile phone. It will give students and staff access to comprehensive information about their university, up and coming events, campus maps and directions, library records, timetable, contacts, latest news and important alerts to help them get the most out of university life.
