Advent Calendar Day #21: Dropbox

December 21st, 2010 at 09:12

DropboxI think I mentioned Dropbox in one of the earlier posts in the Advent Calendar, but I’ve been hearing so many people rave about it that I though it was due another mention. Dropbox is software that syncs your files online and across your computers.  You can use files at home, at work or on the move (there are apps for iPhone, iPad, Android, and Blackberry).  Once you add them into a folder on one computer you can access them from any of your other computers that have Dropbox installed (and from the Dropbox website).  Because it’s software (available for Windows, Mac, and Linux), as well as web-based it does mean you need admin access and to spend a little time setting it up, but once ready, it’s simple to use.

You can also:

  • make available or share files with others – no need to email huge files any more.
  • And it functions as an online backup with a free 2GB account available and more space available for a small fee.
