October 26th, 2010 at 11:10

The next e-learning community meeting is  Wednesday 3 Nov from 12:30-2  on University Park,  Pope A13

Overview of Touchstone

Dr Simon Wilkinson

Simon will provide an overview of the University recommended e-assessment tool, Touchstone, exploring new developments and features suitable for wider University adoption  (such as LaTeX support, invigilator support, foreign language support and randomised questions).

Touchstone case studies

Dr Steven Burr

School of Biomedical Sciences

Steven will be talking about his experiences of using TouchStone on three different degrees across the schools of Biomedical Sciences and Pharmacy. He has experience of very large scale examination, of up to 360 simultaneous candidates, and experience cross-continent with exams running for Pharmacy in both the United Kingdom and Malaysia.

Dr Sarah Westwater-Wood

School of Nursing, Midwifery and Physiotherapy

Sarah will be talking about her experiences of running an online exam for the first time using TouchStone. Sarah used the system to assess statistical knowledge in Nursing students. What is quite novel about her approach is that for part of the exam candidates had to switch over to the statistics package SPSS to do some data manipulations and then choose the correct answer back in the TouchStone exam paper.

Please contact Andy Beggan, andy.beggan(at)nottingham.ac.uk, to confirm attendance.
